About The Position

Adventist Health Twin Cities, located in Templeton, has been serving northern San Luis Obispo County since 1977. This 122-bed acute care facility provides a range of services including emergency medicine, orthopedics, obstetrics, digestive disorders, wound care, and various medical, surgical, and outpatient services. The Registered Nurse performs professional nursing functions in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. This role involves coordinating, managing, providing, and delegating patient care, adhering to established Standards of Nursing Practice, and fostering cooperation within the healthcare team. This position is represented by CNA.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a school of nursing: Required
  • One-year recent acute care RN experience: Required
  • Current RN license in state of practice: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required within 6 months of hire or transfer
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification(ENPC meets PALS requirements): Required within 6 months of hire or transfer
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
  • AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS: Required
  • AHA-PALS or ARC-PALS: Required

Responsibilities

  • Perform the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients.
  • Coordinate, manage, provide and delegate patient care.
  • Meet the established Standards of Nursing Practice.
  • Promote cooperation among the health care team.
  • Assure patients personal needs are met.
  • Assist in reducing noise level of nursing unit.
  • Show a commitment to co-workers.
  • Work as a team to assure all patients have their needs met.
  • Maintain patient, co-worker, and hospital privacy.
  • Ensure documentation is clear, concise, and legible.
  • Deliver a clear, concise report.
  • Complete all assigned quality monitors as directed by department manager.
  • Follow infection control guidelines.
  • Obtain history/physical assessment according to unit specific nursing protocol for all age groups.
  • Review medical history, physical examination, and all available assessment data.
  • Identify abnormal diagnostic data and report to appropriate person.
  • Provide information needed to begin discharge planning in a timely manner, and to the appropriate personnel.
  • Recognize signs and symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress, or other impending emergencies.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to effectively function in Code Blue and other emergency situations.
  • Accurately administer and chart medications according to hospital policies and procedures using patient’s 6 rights.
  • Implement and /or assist others in implementation and documentation of planned education.
  • Assess patient’s educational needs.
  • Assist in the development and education of new staff members.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings.
  • Complete education, training, and competencies for department specific skills.
  • Successfully adapt to changes in the unit, environment, and work flow.
  • Assure all patient charge items are charged and documented correctly.
  • Utilize department resources appropriately.
  • Minimize incidental overtime.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
