About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides care in the 24-bed Cardiac Tele PCU at Texas Health Dallas, a post-interventional unit combined with medical telemetry. The unit provides comprehensive post-interventional cardiac care from admission through discharge and specializes in cardiovascular patients, including those with heart failure, acute myocardial infarction (AMI), arrhythmias, and patients before and after catheterization, ablation, and pacemaker procedures. The role is scheduled for full-time day shifts, 7 a.m.–7 p.m., for 36 hours per week, with weekend and holiday requirements. Self-scheduling is available.

The RN delivers patient care using the nursing process, practices within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act, and serves as a role model, interdisciplinary collaborator, and coordinator for quality patient care. The position is part of a supportive team environment with a strong Unit Based Council and opportunities for growth.

Requirements

• Diploma in nursing or an associate degree from an accredited nursing program.
• One year of experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.
• Practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• PCU, step-down intermediate, or cardiac telemetry experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process.
• Assess patients.
• Plan patient care.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
• Incorporate age-specific safety and infection-control measures into patient care.
• Initiate action to meet patients’ and significant others’ needs for information.
• Maintain continuity of patient care between shifts and hospitals, and while expediting out-of-hospital transfers.
• Practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
• Serve as a role model, interdisciplinary collaborator, and coordinator for quality patient care.
