About The Position

Join Baylor Scott and White Medical Center - Grapevine as a Registered Nurse and be part of something better! Our Intensive Care Unit is a fast-paced environment that includes high acuity patients. Are you looking to increase your knowledge base? Our Intensive Care Unit leadership team fosters an environment that supports learning, mentoring, and building every team member. The Intensive Care Unit patient population includes Medical, Surgical, Trauma, Neuro, and Cardiac patients. The patient ratios are 1:2, and the unit has 20 beds. Department specifics include Level II Trauma, Primary Stroke Center, Thrombectomy Capable, 24/7 Intensivist coverage, strong collaboration with ICU Physicians/Surgeons, Committees/Unit Based Council, and opportunities for furthering education such as Nurse Practitioner and CRNA. The unit boasts an excellent culture of teamwork, learning, and safety. This is a SEASONAL position for 13 weeks, with shifts from 7am-7pm. The first week is a full week of Orientation. As a Seasonal RN, you align with our nursing model, manage patient care, evaluate, recognize, create, and implement care plans. Monitoring patient progress is also vital. Your knowledge will help patients navigate the healthcare system safely, reducing complications. You will use your expertise to understand patient needs and the healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • 2 years of recent ICU experience
  • A degree from a recognized nursing program or two years of relevant work experience
  • A valid Registered Nurse license
  • The ability to obtain a Basic Life Support certification within the first 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Using good judgment and clinical reasoning, conduct thorough assessments following practice standards.
  • Identify patient and family needs, then develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans accordingly. Make adjustments as needed.
  • Creating safe, therapeutic environments for patients, families, and staff.
  • Managing emotional and physical pain to promote recovery and prevent unnecessary suffering.
  • Manage patient care.
  • Evaluate, recognize, create, and implement care plans.
  • Monitor patient progress.
