About The Position

The Registered Nurse works in the Adult Psychiatry Nursing Unit at Ascension Via Christi St Joseph in Wichita, Kansas. The role supports adult behavioral health patients by assessing their physical and mental well-being, creating and updating individualized nursing plans, leading group therapy, and using evidence-based interventions. The nurse contributes clinical expertise to multidisciplinary treatment and safety discussions and continually evaluates patients’ responses to care to adjust strategies as needed. This is a night-shift, part-time position.

Requirements

• Obtain BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
• Hold a Registered Nurse credential from the Kansas Board of Nursing.
• Have a diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing, or professional licensure at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments of patients’ physical and mental well-being.
• Develop and evolve individualized nursing care plans aligned with the broader treatment team’s goals.
• Lead group therapy sessions and implement evidence-based interventions to help patients develop healthy coping mechanisms.
• Contribute nursing expertise to multidisciplinary team conferences concerning patient treatment and safety.
• Evaluate patient responses to treatment and adjust care strategies to reflect their status and needs.
