About The Position

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing care for and treating detainees in a correctional setting. Correctional nurses administer both routine and emergency medical care and treat acute and chronic illnesses and injuries. Requirements

Graduate from a nationally accredited registered nursing program
Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of employment or ability to obtain license
Current Basic Life Support
Ability to obtain a security clearance, to include drug screen and criminal background check

Nice To Haves

Correctional nursing experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities

Administer both routine and emergency medical care
Treat acute and chronic illnesses and injuries
See patients for medical complaints, both acute and chronic
Perform 14-day physicals on all patients
Manage chronic medical conditions by monitoring labs and medication efficiency
Work with the dentist to ensure that patients' oral care is addressed
Respond to medical emergencies
Work hand in hand with physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and correctional staff
Communicate situations or needs effectively with sites and GENESYS Health Alliance Corporate Managers
Utilize computer proficiency for email, document exchange, excel, etc.
