Staff may be assigned to Storm or Hurricane Teams and required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters. Monthly staff meetings are mandatory, and the unit provides 24 hours of orientation over two shifts. Applicants need at least two years of nursing experience in an inpatient setting and Med/Surg experience. BLS and a passing EKG test before starting are required. Nurses must be willing to obtain the ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration certification before or during the assignment; the facility provides onsite training and will cover the certification cost for those obtaining it during the assignment.
