About The Position
As a Staff Nurse, you'll be at the forefront of patient care, working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to ensure patients/residents receive comprehensive support. This role involves conducting thorough patient/resident assessments, developing and implementing evidence-based nursing care plans, monitoring patient progress, and maintaining accurate records. You will also identify and address patient/resident and family learning needs, provide education and referrals, and advocate for patients' rights and dignity. The role also supports nursing research initiatives and contributes to the improvement of patient care policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Registration with the BC College of Nurses & Midwives as a practicing RN registrant, or in Residential Care and Mental Health, registration with the BC College of Nurses & Midwives as a practicing RN or a practicing RPN registrant.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures appropriate for the area of service.
- Ability to work as a member in an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to apply decision making and analytical skills.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Ability to role model conflict resolution strategies.

Responsibilities
- Assess patients' physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans
- Incorporate teaching into care plans to educate patients and families
- Make referrals to resources as needed
- Support fellow healthcare professionals
- Operate within the framework of Providence Health Care's mission, vision, and values
- Conduct thorough patient/resident assessments through chart reviews, observations, interviews, and collaboration with peers.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans based on evidence-based practices, prioritizing patient/resident needs.
- Adhere to established policies, procedures, and PHC standards while providing high-quality nursing care.
- Monitor patient/resident progress, evaluate outcomes, and adjust care plans as needed for optimal results.
- Maintain accurate records of assessments, care plans, patient/resident status, and discharge plans using manual and computerized systems.
- Identify and address patient/resident and family learning needs, providing education and referrals as necessary.
- Provide direction to staff, promote teamwork, and share clinical knowledge to enhance patient care.
- Support nursing research initiatives and contribute to the improvement of patient/resident care policies and procedures.
- Advocate for patients/residents' rights and dignity, facilitate discharge plans, and collaborate with families and community resources.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the healthcare team.
