About The Position
This Registered Nurse position is located in the Pre Procedure Evaluation Center (PPEC) at Atlantic Health, Morristown Medical Center. The role involves direct patient care, including completing nursing assessments, documenting medical and surgical history, allergies, medication intake, and fall assessments. The nurse will educate patients and family members on pre-operative instructions specific to their needs and scheduled surgery, and report any abnormalities to the appropriate staff. The position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- BLS certification.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- All ASN must complete their BSN studies within five years of their start date.
- Master’s degree in nursing or related field.
- 1+ year of experience in Nursing or relevant area.
- ACLS certification.
Responsibilities
- Uses good interpersonal and communication skills with patients, family members and other staff.
- Accurately and thoroughly completes all nursing documentation needed for patients seen at PPEC/AC or when speaking to patients over the phone which includes medical and surgical history, allergies, medication intake, fall assessment, education, and other pertinent information.
- Completes nursing assessments in Epic.
- Reports any abnormalities to the appropriate staff, such as surgeons' offices, anesthesiologists, etc.
- Educates patients and family members as needed either on a one-to-one basis or in a formal education class.
- Gives the appropriate pre-op instructions specific to the patients' needs and their scheduled surgery.
