IHR PRN Registered Nurse-Delnor Labor and Delivery As Needed Rotating Schedule
About The Position
The IHR Registered Nurse Inpatient reflects Northwestern Medicine’s mission, vision, and values and follows its Code of Ethics, Corporate Compliance Program, policies, procedures, guidelines, and applicable regulatory and accreditation standards. The nurse is a clinically competent registered professional who prescribes, delegates, and coordinates care for acutely ill patients using the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The role involves effective interaction with patients, significant others, and other members of the health team while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice. The minimum commitment is ten 12-hour shifts (120 hours) during each six-week scheduling period. The position is PRN and serves Labor and Delivery at Delnor, with a rotating schedule.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate with others.
- Strong analytic abilities.

Responsibilities
- Collect and analyze data, identify expected outcomes, develop and implement individualized plans, coordinate care delivery, and evaluate progress toward outcomes.
- Direct care and determine the appropriate utilization of assistants involved in direct patient care.
- Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary staff.
- Create a documented plan focused on outcomes and service-delivery decisions, indicating communications with patients, families, and others.
- Participate in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
- Evaluate and document patient responses to nursing interventions in the health record and individualize the plan of care based on evaluation findings.
- Use the best available evidence, including research findings, to guide practice decisions.
