About The Position

Hackensack Meridian Health is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Surgical ICU. The role delivers individualized, safe, high-quality patient care based on current evidence, nursing policies, and standards of care. It involves communication with patients and the healthcare team, medication administration using bar-scanning and documentation technologies, electronic point-of-care documentation, patient and family education, and multidisciplinary discharge planning to support continuity of care.

Requirements

Current and valid New Jersey Registered Nurse license.
BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association within 60 days of hire.
At least 6 months of nursing experience, or active participation in the Hackensack Meridian Health Nurse Residency program.
BSN in progress and/or willingness to acquire it within three years of hire.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs.
Accountability for improving patients’ and caregivers’ lives, teamwork, commitment to ongoing education, and ability and passion to deliver high-quality, patient-focused care.

Nice To Haves

At least 2 years of critical care experience.
ACLS certification.
TNCC certification.
NIHSS certification.
National certification.

Responsibilities

Deliver nursing practices consistent with current evidence-based research, nursing policies, and standards of care to provide safe, individualized patient care.
Communicate with patients, nursing colleagues, and other healthcare team members about patient status, care provided, and treatment plans.
Administer medications using bar-scanning and documentation technologies.
Document patient assessments, plans of care, interventions, and evaluations through point-of-care electronic documentation.
Educate patients and families to support health, wellness, and disease management.
Coordinate multidisciplinary patient discharges to support safe transitions and continuity of care.
