About The Position
A behavioral healthcare hospital providing psychiatric and mental health care to adolescent and adult patients is seeking a dedicated, flexible On-Call Registered Nurse to join its clinical team and help maintain a safe, therapeutic environment. The RN delivers direct patient care, conducts psychiatric nursing assessments, and responds to behavioral crises. The role requires availability to cover open shifts, weekends, or holidays as needed by the facility.
Requirements
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Minimum one year of psychiatric or behavioral health experience.
- Ability to stabilize acute psychotic and non-violent crises using accepted intervention techniques.
Responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive physical and psychiatric nursing assessments.
- Administer medications and accurately document patient responses.
- Monitor patient safety, use de-escalation techniques, and respond effectively to behavioral or medical emergencies.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and interdisciplinary treatment teams.
- Maintain complete, accurate electronic medical records in compliance with mental health laws and regulations.
- Perform suicide assessments and understand suicide precautions.
- Identify and incorporate each patient’s unique needs into a comprehensive, individualized care plan.
- Round on patients to ensure patient care and an environment that optimizes patient safety.
- Demonstrate medication-management knowledge to support patient care and reduce the likelihood of medical or health errors.
