About The Position
Provides professional nursing care to patients and families in an acute clinical care environment, guided by the Sarasota Memorial Health Care System (SMHCS) nursing professional practice model and in accordance with the ANA's Standards of Professional Practice. May float to all Sarasota Memorial Health Care System hospital campuses. Join Our Ultimate Float Team! Are you an experienced nurse looking for flexibility, variety, and growth opportunities? Our Ultimate Float Team provides skilled, patient-centered care across 20+ units at the Sarasota Campus, with opportunities to float to specialty units such as Cornell and SMH Venice Campus, with the potential to float to ICU and Pediatrics as needed. As a member of the Ultimate Float Team, you will provide professional nursing care in accordance with ANA and AACN Standards of Professional Practice and SMHCS policies (policy 126.054). This role requires adaptability, strong clinical skills, and a commitment to excellence in patient care.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a diploma program.
- For new hires after 2012, Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing (BSN) is required within specified timeframe as outlined in the New Hire BSN Agreement policy (126.045).
- Two (2) years of relevant work experience.
- Successful completion of Basic Arrhythmia test within 90 days of employment.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within six (6) months of hire.
- National Institutes of Health (NIH) Stroke Scale certification within thirty (30) days of hire.
- Basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
- BLS: Basic Life Support/CPR
- FL RN: FL Registered Nurse License

Responsibilities
- Provides professional nursing care to patients and families in an acute clinical care environment.

- Potential to float to ICU and Pediatrics as needed.
- Provide professional nursing care in accordance with ANA and AACN Standards of Professional Practice and SMHCS policies.
- Perform complex nursing assessment and care for patients including Orthopedic & Trauma Care, Neurological Care, and Cardiac Care.
- Titration of cardiac drips (Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, etc.).
