About The Position

This is a Part Time-Days Registered Nurse position in the ORTHO Unit. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the total nursing care of assigned patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to create a care plan for each patient, considering their physiological, psychosocial, and cultural diversity. The RN is also responsible for supervising and delegating tasks to non-professional personnel to ensure optimal patient care. Competence in addressing age-related needs of specific patient populations served in the nursing unit is essential. The position works under the direction of leadership and a multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive services in accordance with Riverside Health System's standards and facility goals.

Requirements

Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) or licensed in a compact state Upon Hire
CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire

Demonstrates nursing unit specific competencies and equipment training.
Partners with patients and their family to develop, implement and evaluate a plan of care, treatments and procedures that contribute to physiological and psychosocial outcomes of the patient.
Incorporates evidence based standards of practice and collaborates with interdisciplinary team in care coordination.
Facilitates safe patient transition to next level of care as part of plan of care.
Demonstrates sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput to ensure patient receives consistent, competent and ethical care.
Focuses on quality outcomes of patient when addressing service needs to ensure evidence based quality care of patient.
Demonstrates understanding of diverse patient care populations.
Modifies education method to ensure patient/family understanding.
Assumes responsibility to coordinate and deliver individualized patient education and discharge specific education to family/caregivers.
Evaluates for comprehension and documents.
Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
Delegates and prioritizes tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and service excellence to meet the patient's care needs.
Recognizes and responds to emergency situations.
Evaluates resources and support needed and uses systems to ensure needs are met.
