Registered Nurse. Medicine Stepdown, Full Time Days
About The Position
Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Registered Nurse for a full-time day shift position on the Medicine Stepdown unit. This unit, located on the 14th floor of Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, cares for adult patients (18+) with various medical diagnoses including pulmonary, renal, hepatology, endocrine, and post-procedural conditions. The unit environment is friendly, team-focused, and flexible. Responsibilities include applying the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, including education and continuum of care planning. The nurse will effectively communicate pertinent patient/family information, collaborate on patient goals, and evaluate progress. Professional growth is encouraged through continuous learning. Some patient care may involve wound care and continuous medication drips, such as insulin.
Requirements
- LIC-Registered Nurse - Licensure-Others
- Relevant Work Experience
- Graduate of an approved discipline specific program
- 1 year of relevant work experience

Responsibilities
- Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning.
- Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team.
- Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes.
- Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
- Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
- Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
- Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
- Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
