About The Position

Fairview Health Services is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Operating Room team at M Health Fairview Lakes Hospital, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Fairview Lakes Medical Center provides award-winning care to the communities northeast of the Twin Cities. We are a Level IV trauma center, providing life-saving treatment to the seriously ill and injured 24 hours a day. Specialty services are available on-site in heart care, cancer care, childbirth, orthopedics, pediatrics and more. Serving patients of all ages and cases including general surgery, orthopedic, podiatry, spine, OB/GYN, urology, ENT, ophthalmology and endoscopy. Averages 20 OR cases and 10-30 Endoscopy cases a day. 80th percentile ranking for Patient Satisfaction. The Endoscopy/GI department has 2 procedure rooms to serve both outpatients and inpatients for colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and EGD procedures.

Requirements

  • Current OR registered nurse experience and/or Successful completion of the AORN Peri-op 101 course and/or Clinical Experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist or completion of OR Internship
  • Current Minnesota Registered Nurse License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

Responsibilities

  • Assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s) in accordance with all policy, procedure, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.
  • The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
  • The Operating Room RN will be able to facilitate the patients in a 5 suite OR department.
  • Set up, circulate and organize O.R. rooms for a multitude of Surgical Services (Gen, Robot, Ent, Gyn, Urology, Ortho,etc.) and the GI /Endoscopy unit.
  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s).
  • The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.
  • Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
  • Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care.
  • Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
  • Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care.
  • Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)
