Under the general direction of the Unit Director, the Registered Nurse independently provides holistic, individualized care using the nursing process for patients routinely seen on the unit. The role demonstrates clinical competency, nursing judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of patient care. The Registered Nurse independently performs general and unit-specific clinical skills. The position performs the functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating all assigned patient care under the supervision of the Charge Nurse. Responsibilities include adhering to all Standards of Nursing Practice, implementing and evaluating age-appropriate care for all patients (Postpartum, Nursery, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric), managing supplies and equipment, and promoting teamwork with physicians and personnel. The RN adheres to hospital policies regarding confidentiality, sexual harassment, advance directives, and the American Disabilities Act. The role may perform Charge Nurse duties as needed, maintains a high degree of confidentiality, and supports the organization's mission, vision, and values. Additionally, the RN performs as a Resource RN to a Qualified Labor and Delivery Nurse to meet the needs of Obstetrical Patients in the Antepartum, Intrapartum, and Postpartum Phases.
