The Registered Nurse in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care according to department requirements and the standards of nursing practice. Working with medical providers and the broader care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The nurse advocates for patients and their families or caregivers, and supports the organization’s mission, values, patient experience, and clinical outcomes. The RN performs procedures, monitoring, and other functions as ordered by medical providers, and documents care promptly and thoroughly in the patient medical record. The nurse educates patients and families about medical conditions, status, treatment plans, medications and possible side effects, follow-up measures, and relevant lifestyle changes, translating complex terminology into understandable information and preparing patients for future self-management. The RN also uses evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, customize, and deliver holistic treatment that supports recovery. The position is in a 10-bed CVICU at a Level II Trauma Center, with a supportive leadership team, engaged coworkers, and opportunities for professional growth.
