This position involves assisting the Director of Nursing Services in directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing activities in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility. The role requires participation in developing, maintaining, and updating policies and procedures, ensuring reference materials are current, and recommending necessary written materials. The Registered Nurse (RN) will also ensure that all nursing service personnel comply with established procedures and participate in the facility's quality assurance program. This role includes admitting, transferring, and discharging residents, completing accident/incident reports, and performing administrative duties such as completing medical forms and charting. The RN is responsible for ensuring the availability of sufficient licensed nursing staff and certified nursing assistants for their tour of duty, developing work assignments, and monitoring absenteeism. They must also ensure that departmental disciplinary actions are administered fairly and report occupational exposures and suspected fraud. The RN will provide direct nursing care as necessary, monitor medication passes and treatment schedules, and ensure nursing service areas are clean and sanitary. Additionally, the role involves participating in staff development, safety and sanitation initiatives, and managing equipment and supply needs. The RN will also participate in the development and review of resident care plans and assessments, and keep abreast of economic conditions to recommend adjustments in nursing services.
