The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. The staff RN uses the nursing process, technology, therapeutic interventions, evidence-based practice, and coordination with other health team members. This is a PRN role. The nurse must have at least one year of RN emergency room experience, work a minimum of 24 hours per schedule period, and work six weekend hours per eight-week schedule. Depending on department needs, PRN caregivers may be required to work holidays or hard-to-fill shifts. The RN assesses patients’ physical, social, and psychological status and gathers information from patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members. The RN collaborates with patients, families, the care team, and physicians to develop individualized plans of care, including education and plans for follow-up or further support. The RN coordinates and delegates care appropriately, prioritizes and organizes care delivery, and evaluates patient responses and outcomes, revising care plans as needed. The role also includes promoting the nursing profession, supporting the development of others, and practicing in accordance with legal, ethical, regulatory, and licensure standards while providing accurate and timely documentation.
