About The Position

The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing the physiological, emotional, and spiritual needs of each patient within their assigned unit area and planning nursing care to meet those needs. The nurse ensures that nursing care plans are carried out through their own performance and/or leadership of subordinate personnel. This role adheres to the standards of nursing practice of McLaren Flint, utilizing a systematic approach through the nursing process. Responsibilities include assessing and documenting patient status upon admission and continuously thereafter, and developing written plans of care with long and short-term goals and nursing actions.

Requirements

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse to practice nursing in Michigan.
• BLS Certified
• ACLS Certification within 6 months of hire or transfer for units specified: 2 Central, 4 Central, CCU, ICU, PCU, ER, and 12 South
• Minimum of two years of experience required in a cardiac critical care unit, step down unit such as 12T, 9T, 4C, PACU, etc OR in a cardiac cath lab OR in an emergency department.
• Minimum of two years of experience required in a cardiac critical care unit (2C, CCU, ICU), step down units (4C, 9T, 12T), Emergency Department, PACU, Cardiac Cath Lab, EP Lab or Neuro Interventional Procedures Lab.
• Either (within the past 5 years): Two Years ED experience -OR- One-year ED experience with one-year critical care experience
• Possess 2 years of clinical acute care experience
• Minimum of two years of experience required in a critical care unit (2C/ICU/CCU/SCU), step down unit, cardiac cath lab, ER, neuro interventional procedures lab.
• Competent in starting & maintaining IV’s
• 12 months of recent experience (within the last three (3) years) administrating & monitoring moderate sedation of patients.
• Competent to interpret 12 lead EKG
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an inpatient nursing unit or ER within the last 5 years as an RN (to include: PACU, CVCU; to exclude: 11S, Joint and Spine, Rehab, Behavioral Health, Cath Lab, OR).
• Minimum of 6 months proven telemetry monitoring/interpretation experience within the last year and/or successful completion of McLaren Flint’s Telemetry Monitoring/Interpretation test within the last year
• ANCC Psych Certification within 2 years of hire or transfer.
• NRP certification within 6 months of hire or transfer
• Complete the Intermediate Fetal Monitoring course and pass the test in accordance with AWHONN standards within 12 months of transfer or hire

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in pulling arterial lines or venous sheaths
• Knowledge of Intra-aortic Balloon Pumps
• Previous experience as a Registered Nurse in a Cath Lab.
• CCRN certification.
• Previous experience working in MRI and Radiology setting
