Registered Nurse (RN) - Ortho/Joint (Part-Time)
About The Position
Sentara Health is hiring a Registered Nurse to work on the Ortho/Joint 3 West Unit at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This is a part-time, 24-hour-per-week, day-shift position. The 12-bed orthopedic unit cares for patients undergoing post-operative procedures including hip, knee, shoulder, ankle, and spine surgeries. The unit handles approximately 10–20 or more surgical admissions and discharges weekly, with a focus on pain management, physical therapy, mobility, and monitoring for post-operative complications. Nurses work with a supportive team, unit coordinators, and orthopedic surgical groups whose nurse practitioners and physician assistants are available on site or accessible to support timely care. A sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates. The Registered Nurse provides comprehensive, patient-centered care by assessing patient needs, developing individualized care plans, delivering treatments, and educating and supporting patients and families. The RN collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to monitor progress, adjust care as needed, advocate for patient outcomes, and ensure safety and adherence to evidence-based practices. Experienced nurses and new graduates are welcome.
Requirements
- ADN required.
- Virginia or compact-state RN license in good standing.

Responsibilities
- Assess patient needs and provide comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care.
- Develop individualized care plans and deliver treatments.
- Educate and support patients and families.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to monitor patient progress and make clinical adjustments.
- Advocate for positive patient outcomes while ensuring safety and adherence to evidence-based practices.
- Provide care for post-operative orthopedic patients, including pain management, supporting mobility and physical therapy, and monitoring for complications.
