The Registered Nurse (RN) uses the nursing process—including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes and planning, implementation, and evaluation—to provide individualized care. This role collaborates with inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement, and evaluate care. The RN practices within the full scope of nursing expertise and applicable age- and population-specific standards, caring for patients across preventive care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. Responsibilities also include care planning and coordination, patient assessment and education, triage, and other nursing interventions, consistent with the applicable Nurse Practice Act, administrative rules, and professional nursing standards. The position is in a busy, high-acuity 40-bed Level IV NICU, including a dedicated micropreemie unit. The neonatal population may include infants with prematurity, sepsis, respiratory distress, surgical emergencies, birth-related trauma, and other medical conditions. The unit uses advanced capabilities and equipment including synchronized intermittent mandatory ventilation, pulmonary function testing, high-frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, and whole-body cooling. An air and ground flight team transports approximately 30% of NICU admissions. Respiratory therapists staff the NICU, and Neonatal Nurse Practitioners are on site 24/7. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1–3 on all shifts. The schedule consists of 12-hour rotating day and night shifts, with 36 scheduled hours per week. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available to eligible applicants with a commitment. The role may receive additional night and weekend differential pay. Applicable experience is reviewed and factored into potential offers, and growth opportunities are available within the position and Sanford.
