About The Position

This Registered Nurse (RN) position is for the Gen/Surgical Unit, a 30-bed unit providing care for high-acuity patients across a wide spectrum of complex specialties. The role requires the RN to demonstrate passion for bedside care to a diverse and acutely ill patient population. The nurse will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, and evaluate patient care for various health conditions. Collaboration with the interdisciplinary team is essential to support patient-centered care. Responsibilities include communicating variances from patient goals, advocating for patients, maintaining accurate healthcare records, administering medications, educating patients and families, and designing/implementing/evaluating nursing care plans.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree required (BSN preferred).
• Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association).
• Superb interpersonal, communication and collaboration abilities.
• Competency in electronic patient management systems.

Nice To Haves

• BSN or MSN preferred.
• At least 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care setting highly preferred.
• Will take a graduate nurse and train.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient-centered continuum of care.
• Communicate variances from patient goals and advocate on behalf of patients.
• Maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.
• Administer medications to patients, provide education and monitor for efficacy and side effects.
• Assess, monitor, report and record patient condition and pertinent changes.
• Design, implement and evaluate patient nursing care plans with healthcare team.
• Educate patients and family throughout stay and in preparation for discharge.
