Registered Nurse (RN) - Stepdown Unit
About The Position
Sentara is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) at Sentara Norfolk General's Step-Down Unit in Norfolk, Virginia. This is a full-time, day shift position. The unit is a new 24-bed Medicine unit with updated technology and a diverse patient population including cardiac, renal failure, sepsis, pneumonia, sickle cell, OR-prep, and wound care. This role is ideal for those looking to advance into an ICU or ED setting. The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice and professional performance encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
Requirements
- RN Degree REQUIRED
- Virginia RN License REQUIRED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 90-days of hire

- Prior RN experience PREFERRED
Responsibilities
- Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
- Assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation.
- Adhere to standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
- Utilize clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
