About The Position

The Registered Nurse - Family Birth Center RN works in a collaborative environment at St. Mary’s Health Care System, delivering excellent patient care as part of an interdisciplinary team. This role involves providing evidence-based medicine and individualized patient care, facilitating all aspects of the patient visit experience. It's a great opportunity for a professional to work in an organization that focuses on treating the whole person, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The Family Birth Center is a 22-bed unit with 19 LDRPs and 3 triage rooms. Nurses will learn all components of the labor process: antepartum, triage/OBED, labor, c-sections, and couplet care. The unit has 24/7 hospitalists. Under limited supervision, the Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing patients, developing, evaluating, and modifying care plans. The RN interprets and performs complex patient-care procedures specific to their expertise. RNs are members of the Care Team and Support Team, accountable to function as a team to accomplish patient outcomes identified in the pathway/plan of care. The Registered Nurse is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for the care given to a group of patients for a designated time frame, providing care through the therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/technology, and other healthcare team members, according to established standards.

Requirements

  • A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing education program approved by the Board of Nursing or found by the Board to be substantially equivalent to the programs in Georgia.
  • Successful completion of a refresher course within the past 6 months if nursing practice has not occurred within the past 5 years.
