The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the delivery of patient care. The professional nurse assumes the responsibility and accountability for the delegation of patient care to other members of the healthcare team. As a Registered Nurse, you will provide total, comprehensive care to patients by applying the nursing process in an organized and systemic manner according to hospital policy. You will communicate proactively to the health care team, plan of care, changes in patient condition, patient progress, the discharge plan and other relevant information. You will complete admissions according to policy utilizing a multi-system approach for assessment and reassessment, and document assessment/reassessment, plan, interventions and outcomes according to policy. You will interpret and utilize clinical data in the plan of care, perform accurate and thorough nursing physical assessments and document thoroughly, reassess patient condition per policy, and assess patients for potential risk factors. You will recognize and integrate patient special needs and individualize care, include pain management and supportive care issues in the plan of care, and adhere to infection control standards specific to patient care. You will assume accountability for managing the delivery of patient care, learn policies and nursing procedures, and communicate them. You will participate in discharge planning using a multidisciplinary approach, participate in multidisciplinary rounds, and assist patients/families with grieving processes and end-of-life cases as appropriate.
