About The Position

Under general supervision, plans, directs, and evaluates total nursing care and functions within the organization, in accordance with established philosophy.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited program in nursing.
  • Active State of Ohio Registered Nurse Nursing License.
  • CPR - approved by the American Heart Association.
  • Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides the best possible nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing the nursing functions of patients on the unit.
  • Initiates and implements patient education and care plan.
  • Ability to assess, critically think, rapidly recognize and respond to clinical changes.
  • Makes nursing assignments appropriate to the skill level of employees.
  • Maintains acceptable standards of patient care.
  • Identifies problems and guides personnel to their solution.
  • Creates a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction of personnel.
  • Accurately and promptly implements physicians' orders.
  • Administers medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and correctly.
  • Maintains the standards of accurate and complete recording and reporting.
  • Arranges to have needed supplies and equipment on hand.
  • Participates in planning changes and improvements.
  • Participates in hospital safety and security programs.
  • Supports and enforces infection-control policies and procedures.
  • Is resourceful and calm in emergencies.
  • Keeps the Nursing Supervisor informed of patients, needs, and problems on the nursing unit.
  • Participates in orientation and in-service training for personnel.
  • Evaluates the performance of personnel with recommendations for appropriate action.
  • Assists in reviewing and revising policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a professional approach with confidentiality.
  • Displays concern and initiative. Displays original thinking and creativity. Meets challenges with resourcefulness. Generates suggestions for improving work. Develops innovative approaches and ideas. Presents ideas and information in a manner that gets others' attention.
  • Observes and supports hospital policy.

  • Provides Trauma-Informed Care.
  • Identifies appropriate nursing diagnosis and documents within the plan of care.
  • Collects referral information and presents to the psychiatric provider accordingly.
  • Promotes holistic care that guards against negative patient outcomes.
  • Active member of the treatment team, to assist in the patient reaching their optimal level of functioning prior to discharge.
  • Provides diverse care to connect with the individualized needs of each client, including families/caregiver.
  • Focuses on de-escalation techniques and therapeutic rapport.
