About The Position

The Registered Nurse works in Emergency Services at Harlingen Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas, on a full-time night schedule of 12-hour shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The role provides emergency care to patients with a broad range of medical conditions and injuries. Nurses assess and triage patients, provide direct clinical care, support stabilization and life-saving interventions for severe illness or trauma, and educate patients and families. Candidates with experience in critical care, ICU, cardiac care, telemetry, or an emergency department are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

Current and valid state RN license.
Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
Current ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
Minimum of one year of experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting.

Nice To Haves

Emergency department experience preferred.
Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

Assess patients upon arrival, determine the severity of their condition, and prioritize care using standardized triage protocols.
Provide direct care to patients with a wide range of medical conditions and injuries, including administering medications, performing wound care or splinting, monitoring vital signs, and managing pain.
Assist with stabilizing patients with severe illness or trauma and initiating life-saving interventions, including ACLS, PALS, and trauma care.
Manage high-stress, rapidly changing situations while caring for multiple patients during busy shifts or mass casualty events.
Educate patients and their families about medical conditions, treatment options, and discharge instructions.
