Registered Nurse - 3rd Floor Tower Cardiac - Full Time - Night Shift
About The Position
The Registered Nurse is responsible for managing the care of patients experiencing medical conditions or surgical procedures. The nurse must be able to assess patient condition, administer medications, change dressings, monitor vital signs, keep records and provide patients and families with support and education. The Registered Nurse maintains a wide array of medical care knowledge in order to care for a diverse group of patients. The 3rd Floor Tower Cardiac unit is a 36-bed Med-Surg Cardiac unit with a sub-specialty in vascular surgery post-op care. The typical patient population includes post heart surgery patients, post-op thoracic surgery patients, and other vascular surgery patients. The unit is supported by surgeons who value input and partner to provide the best care. The unit prides itself on being teamwork-oriented and quality-minded caregivers, with experienced nurses who precept new staff. Care is supported by virtual care nurses, an Early Intervention Team, a decentralized pharmacist, and a dedicated educator. The Recruitment and Retention Committee ensures new employees are welcomed and plans engaging activities for staff.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved program
- RN license active in the state of Missouri
- BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrate effective leadership abilities
- Exhibits valuable time management skills
- Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills
- Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment
