About The Position

Cumberland Heights is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join their team and contribute to their mission of transforming lives through high-quality care for individuals and families affected by chemical dependency. The role involves providing comprehensive care that addresses the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of recovery in a safe, loving, and healing environment, guided by professional excellence and the principles of the Twelve Steps. The Staff Nurse/RN will plan and provide nursing care to detoxification and rehabilitation patients, oversee LPNs and medical/clinical assistants, and maintain accurate documentation within an electronic patient record system. The position emphasizes creating a welcoming and healing environment, recommending service improvements, and maintaining confidentiality.

Requirements

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing is required.
• Current Tennessee RN license in good standing is required.
• A minimum of three (3) years nursing experience, with one (1) year medical/surgical nursing required.
• One (1) year behavioral/healthcare nursing experience preferred.
• CPI, First Aid/CPR and automatic external defibrillation certification required or eligible.
• Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft (Outlook, Word and Excel).
• Ability to quickly learn and use various clinical software.
• Ability to problem-solve, analyze, and interpret information.
• Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and patient needs in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to analyze complex situations and make crucial decisions while also knowing when consultation is needed.
• Ability to be open and culturally sensitive to a wide variety of patients’ experiences.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively speak, read and write in English.
• Ability to interact with patients and co-workers in a collaborative and courteous manner while providing guidance, instruction, and/or training.
• Ability to apply information regarding cultural/age/population specific characteristics to patient care.
• Reacts productively to change.
• Ability to de-escalate a person in crisis in a calm and supportive manner; work calmly and professionally in stressful situations and ally with people in crisis.
• If recovering, two (2) years of verifiable abstinence required; active participation in a twelve-step program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, plans, implements/supervises, and evaluates the care of detoxification patients based on initial chemical dependency and nursing assessments, as well as pertinent clinical findings.
• Reviews admission chemical dependency assessments and completes nursing assessments and care plans on admissions, investigating any indicated medical/psychiatric problems noted within established time frames.
• Interprets, transcribes, implements, or supervises the implementation of physician’s orders according to established policies and procedures.
• Triages all rehabilitation patients, treating and referring according to physician’s orders and established policies and procedures.
• Oversees the work of LPNs and medical and clinical assistants as assigned.
• Maintains clear, accurate, and timely documentation.
• Performs CPR and First Aid as needed, as well as automatic external defibrillation according to established policies and procedures.
• Responds to medical emergencies on campus, directing interventions until senior nursing management, physicians, or paramedics arrive.
• Documents pertinent clinical information into the electronic patient record.
• Ensures that a welcoming, safe, and healing environment is maintained for each patient and family throughout the continuum of care.
• Recommends ways to improve the quality and delivery of services.
• Maintains confidentiality of company and patient information.
• Reacts productively to change.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Supervises other RN and LPN staff members and medical assistants on assigned shift when assigned Charge, consulting with the ADON/DON as needed.
