About The Position

The Registered Nurse works in the Neonatal ICU at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital, an 83-bed Level III critical care facility providing acute medical, nursing, and respiratory care to critically ill infants. Patients may be premature or full-term and may have conditions such as low birth weight, infectious diseases, congenital anomalies, Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, or complications during labor and delivery. Most admissions come from within Magee, and the unit also accepts transports from regional hospitals. As a Professional Staff Nurse and member of the care delivery team, the nurse provides competent, empathetic patient care and treatment, using independent judgment and clear communication. The nurse establishes relationships with physicians, other care providers, patients, and families to support desired outcomes across the continuum of care. The role carries authority and accountability for the provision and quality of nursing care and calls for commitment to the community and nursing profession. The exact job title and pay rate depend on individual qualifications and candidate choice; required certifications and role-specific contributions may be completed within an allotted timeframe. RNs work a rotating 12-hour schedule to provide 24/7 floor coverage, including rotating holidays and weekends. Hours and travel may change based on business needs.
