About The Position

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking to recruit multiple Registered Nurses for all units at Central Regional Hospital (CRH). This role involves managing the delivery of nursing care through the supervision, teaching, and evaluation of nursing personnel. The Professional Nurse provides psychiatric-mental health and medical nursing care, utilizing the Nursing Process, and directly supervises other licensed and non-licensed staff on the patient care unit during their assigned shift. This includes rotating in the charge nurse role, assessing staff capabilities, and delegating tasks. The Professional Nurse also provides direct patient observation and evaluates nursing care. The role reports directly to a Nurse Supervisor II (Clinical Nurse Manager).

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.
  • Candidates will be considered while completing licensure requirements. Licensure must be obtained prior to beginning employment.
  • Advanced Physical Skills (APS) certification through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and CPR certification within 60 days.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the delivery of nursing care through the on-going supervision, teaching, and evaluation of nursing personnel.
  • Provides psychiatric-mental health and medical nursing care utilizing the Nursing Process.
  • Provides direct supervision of other licensed and non-licensed staff on the patient care unit during their assigned shift.
  • Rotates in the charge nurse role.
  • Appropriately assesses the capabilities of staff and delegates task and responsibilities.
  • Provides direct observation of patients and evaluation of nursing care given.

  • Shift Premiums for 8-Hour Shifts: Day: 10% weekend shift premium, Evening: 20% shift premium plus an additional 10% weekend shift premium, Night: 20% shift premium plus an additional 10% weekend shift premium
  • Shift Premiums for 12-Hour Shifts: Day (7:00 am-7:30 pm): 10% weekend shift premium, Evenings/ Night (7:00 pm-7:30 am): 20% shift premium plus an additional 10% weekend shift premium
  • Sign-on bonus of $10,000 for work units AAU, CTU, FSU, and MPU or a $12,000 sign-on bonus for work units CAU and GSU may be offered.
