The Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for implementing, directing and coordinating the care of patients through the use of the nursing process: assessment, planning implementation and evaluation. Included is recognition and treatment of the physical and psychosocial changes unique to the age/population group served on the specific unit. This is a full-time position (72 hours biweekly) working 12-hour night shifts (7pm-7am) every third weekend. The unit is a 24-bed Critical Care Unit specializing in the care of critical patients, with 24-hour intensivist/pulmonary/APP coverage. New nurses receive an individualized, comprehensive 16-week orientation program including Essentials of Critical Care Orientation (ECCO), ACLS certification, and NIHSS certification. A mentorship program follows orientation, and a residency program is available for new graduates. Opportunities exist for committee participation, a voice in nursing practice, and professional growth through a Clinical Ladder. Leadership presence is maintained on every shift, providing a strong foundation for advanced practice degrees. Certification for Critical Care RN (CCRN) is possible after 2 years of experience. Eligible for shift and weekend differential.
