About The Position

This Registered Nurse position is for the Float Pool, working 36 hours per week on day shifts from 7a-7:30p. The role involves utilizing the Nursing Process for patient care from admission to discharge, performing assessments, developing care plans, and administering medications. The nurse will also direct, supervise, and evaluate nursing care, delegate tasks appropriately, and document patient care. Responsibilities include developing patient education plans, collaborating with healthcare providers, participating in Nursing Governance and performance improvement initiatives, and assuming responsibility for professional growth. Standard staffing level responsibilities include complying with departmental policies, attending meetings, demonstrating quality improvement, adhering to safety regulations, respecting diversity, and maintaining reliable attendance. All responsibilities are considered essential job functions.

Requirements

  • Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration.
  • BLS is a requirement for every RN unless advance cardiac life support (ACLS) certification is current, in addition to any unit specific certifications and competencies.
  • Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the Nursing Process for the delivery and management of patient’s care from Admission to Discharge, appropriate to the developmental age of the patient population.
  • Performs patient assessment/reassessment according to standard procedure.
  • Develops and coordinates individual plan of care including discharge planning.
  • Directs, supervises, coordinates and evaluate nursing care within assigned clinical setting.
  • Delegates appropriately to others in accordance with job description and competency level.
  • Documents patient care according to standard procedure.
  • Develops, implements/coordinates and documents Education Plan for patient/family/ significant other.
  • Ensures quality and continuity of care through collaboration with other health care providers.
  • Administers medications, performs treatments, therapies and operates equipment according to policy and procedure. Assists physician with treatment and procedures and special tests as required or directed.
  • Participates in and supports Nursing Governance activities.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional growth. Assists in education and development of staff.
  • Participates in performance improvement initiatives and demonstrate the use of quality improvement in daily operations.
  • Complies with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.
  • Attends variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.
  • Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.
  • Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
  • Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.
