About The Position

ICU RN in a 24-bed adult/geriatric intensive care unit with average daily census of 19. Provides high-acuity care for ventilated patients and diagnoses including ARDS, sepsis, stroke, STEMI, DKA, post-op complications, cardiogenic shock, GI bleeding, COPD exacerbation, encephalopathy, liver failure, drug overdose and ESRD requiring CRRT. Required skills include ventilator management, HFNC, ETT/NT suctioning, central line care, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management and acute stroke care. Equipment includes BIS, Train of Four, Artic Sun, FloTrac and IABP. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, PT, respiratory services, interpretation, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response, pharmacy, transportation and unit secretary.

Requirements

Ventilator management
HFNC (High-Flow Nasal Cannula) proficiency
ETT/NT suctioning (Endotracheal Tube/Nasotracheal suctioning) skills
Central line care
Cardiac monitoring
Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
Acute stroke care

Responsibilities

Provides high-acuity care for ventilated patients.
Manages patients with diagnoses including ARDS, sepsis, stroke, STEMI, DKA, post-op complications, cardiogenic shock, GI bleeding, COPD exacerbation, encephalopathy, liver failure, drug overdose and ESRD requiring CRRT.
Performs ventilator management.
Utilizes HFNC (High-Flow Nasal Cannula).
Performs ETT/NT suctioning (Endotracheal Tube/Nasotracheal suctioning).
Provides central line care.
Monitors cardiac activity.
Interprets and manages dysrhythmias.
Provides acute stroke care.
Operates equipment such as BIS, Train of Four, Artic Sun, FloTrac and IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump).
Collaborates with interdisciplinary support teams including IV teams, PT, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary.
