About The Position
Paradise Valley Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide nursing care in behavioral health settings. The hospital offers inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services, including psychiatric care for adults. Registered Nurses care for patients, provide education and emotional support, participate in therapeutic and crisis interventions, and contribute to treatment, rehabilitation, and follow-up.
Requirements
- Current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse.
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
- Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards.
- Working knowledge of the interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming, and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units.
- Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.
Responsibilities
- Treat patients and educate them about mental and medical conditions.
- Provide advice and emotional support to patients and/or family members.
- Run therapeutic groups and provide psychiatric crisis intervention, including seclusion and restraint of patients as needed.
- Record patients’ medical histories and symptoms.
- Help perform diagnostic tests and analyze results.
- Operate medical machinery and administer treatment and medications.
- Help with patient follow-up and rehabilitation.
- Teach patients and families to manage illness or injury, follow diet and exercise programs, and self-administer medication and physical therapy.
- Perform other related duties.
