About The Position

VitalCore Health Strategies is hiring Registered Nurses to provide correctional health care at Mississippi State Penitentiary in Parchman, Mississippi. The Registered Nurse delivers quality care within the scope of practice established by the state nurse practice act. The RN is accountable for the quality of care delivered, helps maintain a safe environment for patients and staff, advocates for patients, and promotes nursing best practices. The posting lists full-time, part-time, and PRN schedules with day and night shifts in 12-hour shifts.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Registered Nurse licensure in the state of employment.
• Active CPR certification.
• Knowledge of specific state laws and regulations governing nursing practice.
• Satisfactory completion of initial and annual clinical competencies demonstrating aptitude as assigned by role.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
• Administer medications and monitor patients for reactions and side effects.
• Record patients’ medical information and vital signs.
• Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients’ conditions.
• Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
• Modify patient treatment plans based on patients’ responses and conditions.
• Monitor patient care, including diet and physical activity.
• Direct or supervise less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnel or supervise a particular unit.
• Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
• Instruct individuals, families, or groups on health education, disease prevention, and childbirth, and develop health improvement programs.
• Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, or supplies and maintain supply stock.
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients’ conditions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the facility.
