RN - Intermediate Care Unit - Per Diem - Days
About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the Intermediate Care Unit at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois. This per diem Level I role requires at least 48 hours of work every six weeks, including 24 hours of weekend time. The scheduled hours are 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The nurse must attend orientation on Monday through Thursday of the first week, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on Tuesday of the second week, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No travel is required. The nurse assesses patients and gathers health information from patients, families, and other health care providers; coordinates safe, timely, and appropriate care; communicates effectively with customers; tailors patient and family education to their learning needs; participates in quality improvement; and maintains current knowledge of nursing standards, laws, and regulations.
Requirements
- Successful completion of an Associate's degree or BSN from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Illinois.
- Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients and collect health data involving patients, families, and other health care providers.
- Coordinate patient plans of care to ensure interventions are consistent, safe, timely, and appropriate.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with customers in person, by phone, and in writing.
- Individualize patient and family teaching based on an assessment of their learning needs.
- Participate in evaluating the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice through quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain professional knowledge of current nursing practice standards, laws, and regulations.
