About The Position

The registered nurse provides assessment, care planning, and direct delivery of treatment using professional nursing care processes in a patient- and family-centered manner. Care is provided in accordance with licensure and regulatory scope and standards, as well as established hospital policies, procedures, and protocols. The position is in the Emergency Department at Canton-Potsdam Hospital and is per diem, with variable 12-hour shifts.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school program.
• Current, unrestricted New York State registered professional nursing license.
• BLS upon hire; if the certification is not from the American Heart Association, it must be obtained within one week of the hire date.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive patient assessments to identify patient and family needs.
• Develops and implements comprehensive plans of care involving patients and their families.
• Performs and documents direct patient- and family-centered care and patient education according to nursing standards of practice.
• Identifies and responds to patient conditions to achieve positive patient outcomes.
• Performs discharge planning to ensure safe and appropriate transitions of care.
• Directs and delegates care provided by unlicensed team members.
• Provides world-class customer service to patients and families.
