About The Position

At Clearfork Academy, we provide high-quality substance abuse and mental health treatment for adolescents and young adults. We're looking for a compassionate, dependable, and clinically skilled Registered Nurse (RN) who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is confident responding to changing patient needs. This position is ideal for an RN who enjoys variety, problem-solving, teamwork, and time-sensitive clinical situations while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and patient safety.

Requirements

  • Current and active Texas RN license
  • At least 1 year of staff nursing experience, preferably in behavioral health or chemical dependency
  • Current BLS certification
  • Knowledge of medications, nursing standards, and the Texas Nurse Practice Act
  • Basic understanding of substance use disorders and recovery
  • Working knowledge of ASAM criteria
  • Ability to perform vital signs, EKGs, breathalyzer testing, urine drug screens, venipuncture, and fingersticks
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and patient-centered care

Responsibilities

  • Assess clients with substance use and mental health conditions
  • Provide nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Administer and document medications according to provider orders, facility policies, and Texas regulations
  • Monitor and document vital signs, CIWAs, COWS, safety assessments, nutritional assessments, pain, anxiety, cravings, and other required assessments
  • Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and changes in a client's physical or mental condition
  • Complete medication reconciliation and maintain accurate medication records
  • Perform phlebotomy, venipuncture, fingersticks, EKGs, and urine drug screens as required
  • Collaborate with physicians, psychiatric providers, nursing staff, Behavioral Health Technicians, and the treatment team
  • Participate in treatment team and nursing meetings
  • Provide patient and family education regarding medications, wellness, and recovery
  • Maintain infection control standards and required medical supplies
  • Accurately document nursing care, incidents, medication errors, and patient responses
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and Clearfork Academy policies
  • Complete required continuing education and organizational training
  • Perform other duties as assigned
