About The Position

This position offers Monday-Friday 6 PM-10PM (20 hours per week). The Registered Nurse (RN) may provide direct nursing care to residents and supervises the day-to-day nursing activities performed by licensed practical/vocational nurses and certified nursing assistants. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures, promoting holistic care for residents.

Requirements

A Nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
Current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in practicing state.
Current CPR certification.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork.
Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
Must have patience, tact, and willingness to deal with difficult residents, family and staff.
Must be able to relay information concerning a resident’s condition.
Must not pose a threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the workplace.
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
Meets general health requirements according to facility policy, including medical and physical exams and checking immunity status to various infectious diseases.
Ability to assist in evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, perform overhead lifting and perform other common physical movements as needed for the position.
Must possess leadership, supervisory ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
Communicates with medical and nursing staff, and other departments.
Compliance as a condition of employment and performance appraisal.

Prior experience in long-term care preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Directs the daily activities of licensed practical/vocational nurses and certified nursing assistants.
Follows the nursing model to promote holistic care for residents.
Ensures compliance with policies and procedures by assigned nursing personnel.
Participates in resident admissions, discharges, and transfers.
Assesses residents for changes in status, notifying physicians and families, and documenting accordingly.
Transcribes physician orders and carries them out as written.
Prepares and administers medications, observing for adverse effects.
Performs wound treatments and observes for changes.
Schedules follow-up appointments and transportation needs for residents.
Provides nursing leadership to assigned nursing personnel.
Performs direct care skills such as colostomy changes, tube feedings, wound care, suctioning, and IV administration.
Performs rounds to ensure resident needs are met and personnel are performing duties.
Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to meet residents' needs.
Participates in management team meetings to discuss census, resident status, or concerns.
May assist in evaluating work performance of nursing personnel and implements discipline.
Informs appropriate departments of concerns or complaints and files grievances.
Reports incidents or unusual occurrences and participates in investigations.
Participates in end-of-life care.
Ensures adequate stock of medications, supplies, and equipment.
Initiates, reviews, and updates care plans.
Promotes teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication.
Participates in survey processes.
May participate in QAPI activities.
Ensures infection control principles are followed and corrects deficiencies.
Treats all residents with dignity and respect.
Promotes and protects all residents’ rights.
Establishes a culture of compliance by adhering to facility policies and procedures.
Complies with standards of business conduct, and state/federal regulations and guidelines.
Follows appropriate safety and hygiene measures.
Maintains confidentiality of protected health information.

Reports retaliation or discrimination.
Reports allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents.
Protects residents from abuse and cooperates with investigations.
Reports occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicals.
Participates in life safety and emergency drills and trainings.
Fulfills responsibilities during emergency plan activation.
Reports work-related injuries and illnesses immediately.
Follows established infection control policies and procedures.
Completes all assigned training and skills competency.
