About The Position

MeadowWood Behavioral Health Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for a temporary, full-time 13-week assignment in New Castle, Delaware. The position pays a fixed rate of $65 per hour and is not benefits-eligible. This is a direct temporary opportunity, not an agency contract; travel stipends and reimbursements are not provided. Applicants must have at least one year of behavioral health experience and be available for evening and night shifts. Temporary employees may be offered conversion to a regular full-time position after the assignment, with a listed $5,000 full-time conversion bonus. Current Acadia Healthcare employees are not eligible for this temporary assignment.

MeadowWood is a 120-bed treatment center serving adults and adolescents on an inpatient and outpatient basis. New-hire RNs attend hospital-wide orientation and then receive unit orientation with a preceptor. The facility describes its training and support as a foundation for developing nursing skills and career goals.

The Registered Nurse assesses patients’ physical and behavioral health needs, develops and implements nursing care plans, provides nursing services within applicable standards and policies, administers medications, maintains records, and communicates with patients, families, physicians, and other members of the treatment team. The RN also supports admission and discharge processes and may direct or coordinate unit activities as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license as required by the state of employment, or eligibility to practice nursing under state requirements.
• At least one year of nursing experience; the assignment overview specifically requires at least one year of behavioral health experience.
• CPR certification and de-escalation and restraint certification; training is available upon hire and offered by the facility.
• Availability for evening and night shifts.

Nice To Haves

• Previous psychiatric, mental health, behavioral health, or substance use nursing experience is a plus.
• First aid may be required depending on state or facility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ physical and behavioral health needs and coordinate care.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans specific to patients’ assessed needs.
• Maintain medical records and educate patients and families about physical and behavioral health conditions.
• Provide nursing care within the state Nurse Practice Act, applicable regulations, and facility and corporate policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Ensure verbal physician orders are legible and transcribed according to policy and procedure.
• Assess patients’ status on an ongoing basis and gather and document pertinent information.
• Notify physicians of significant status changes, including detox difficulties, medical emergencies, medication-response concerns, and related challenges.
• Complete initial nursing treatment plans upon admission and tailor plans to assessed needs.
• Use universal precautions when providing direct patient care.
• Administer medications accurately according to orders.
• Document controlled-substance medication counts on required documents.
• Complete admission and discharge processing efficiently and accurately.
• Maintain therapeutic rapport and professional boundaries with patients, respect personal space, give direct attention, and maintain rational detachment.
• Provide direction or coordinate unit activities as assigned.
• Communicate therapeutically and professionally with patients, visitors, coworkers, and others involved in inpatient treatment.
