Registered Nurse - Emergency Room PRN

About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides emergency room nursing care, bringing clinical knowledge, empathy, compassion, and communication skills to patients, families, and the care team. The role supports safe, coordinated care and continuity throughout the patient’s experience. The position is PRN and has a day shift.
Requirements
- Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana, as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
- Current ACLS, CPI, and PALS certifications; new graduates must obtain them within six months of hire.
- Current TNCC certification for CHNOLA and UMC emergency rooms only.
- ENPC may substitute for PALS at UMC or EJMC emergency rooms.

Responsibilities
- Prioritize, coordinate, and delegate all care touchpoints for patients.
- Maintain and advocate for a safe environment for everyone.
- Monitor and engage with patients, families, and appropriate care team members regarding significant events or changes in patient condition.
- Prevent and treat wounds.
- Monitor and carry out Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements.
- Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communication, and an exceptional patient experience.
- Consult with a supervisor when assignments or tasks cannot be completed promptly, effectively, or safely.
- Initiate patient and family education using appropriate resources and care services, and address questions and concerns.
- Assist other team members without being asked.
