About The Position

The Registered Nurse on Mercy South’s Facility Float Pool uses the Mercy Nursing Professional Practice Model and nursing process to provide patient care and is professionally accountable for care provided to assigned patients. The RN coordinates care with other departments, protects patient rights and confidentiality, and works within their nursing preparation, established nursing practice guidelines, the State Nurse Practice Act, and Mercy’s policies, ethics, values, and service standards.

Float Pool nurses work across multiple units, which may include Orthopedics, Med/Surg, Telemetry, Stepdown, ICU, Emergency Department, Behavioral Health, Oncology, and Neurology. The role offers variety, challenge, and opportunities to develop skills caring for patients with a range of diagnoses. This is a full-time day position at Mercy South in St. Louis, Missouri.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of bedside RN experience.
• Nursing degree from an accredited school.
• Current RN license in the state.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
• Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods during each shift.
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

• Use the Mercy Nursing Professional Practice Model and nursing process to provide patient care.
• Maintain professional accountability for patient care provided to assigned patients.
• Coordinate patient care in conjunction with other departments.
• Maintain patients’ rights and confidentiality of patient information.
• Perform duties within the scope of nursing preparation and established nursing practice guidelines.
• Follow the State Nurse Practice Act, Mercy policies and codes, and Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards.
• Provide care across assigned float pool units, which may include Orthopedics, Med/Surg, Telemetry, Stepdown, ICU, Emergency Department, Behavioral Health, Oncology, and Neurology.

• $20,000 sign-on bonus, with a flexible no-contract option or an upfront payment option requiring a two-year commitment.
• Tiered differentials: Tier 3 (Med/Surg) +$5.00/hour, Tier 2 (Stepdown) +$7.50/hour, and Tier 1 (ICU) +$10.00/hour.
