About The Position

As a Staff Nurse, you'll be at the forefront of patient care, working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to ensure patients/residents receive comprehensive support. Your responsibilities will include: Assess patients' physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans Incorporate teaching into care plans to educate patients and families Make referrals to resources as needed Support fellow healthcare professionals Operate within the framework of Providence Health Care's mission, vision, and values

Requirements

  • Registration with the BC College of Nurses & Midwives as a practicing RN registrant, or in Residential Care and Mental Health, registration with the BC College of Nurses & Midwives as a practicing RN or a practicing RPN registrant.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures appropriate for the area of service.
  • Ability to work as a member in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to apply decision making and analytical skills.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to role model conflict resolution strategies.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Ability to teach and identify patient/resident learning needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients' physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans
  • Incorporate teaching into care plans to educate patients and families
  • Make referrals to resources as needed
  • Support fellow healthcare professionals
  • Conduct thorough patient/resident assessments through chart reviews, observations, interviews, and collaboration with peers.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans based on evidence-based practices, prioritizing patient/resident needs.
  • Adhere to established policies, procedures, and PHC standards while providing high-quality nursing care.
  • Monitor patient/resident progress, evaluate outcomes, and adjust care plans as needed for optimal results.
  • Maintain accurate records of assessments, care plans, patient/resident status, and discharge plans using manual and computerized systems.
  • Identify and address patient/resident and family learning needs, providing education and referrals as necessary.
  • Provide direction to staff, promote teamwork, and share clinical knowledge to enhance patient care.
  • Support nursing research initiatives and contribute to the improvement of patient/resident care policies and procedures.
  • Advocate for patients/residents' rights and dignity, facilitate discharge plans, and collaborate with families and community resources.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the healthcare team.
