About The Position
Boone Memorial Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Department team. The ED Staff Nurse provides direct nursing care to patients presenting with a wide range of illnesses, injuries, and emergency medical needs. This position is ideal for an RN who thrives in a fast-paced environment, works well as part of a collaborative healthcare team, and is committed to providing safe, compassionate, high-quality patient care.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Active West Virginia Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within six months of hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within six months of hire
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certification required within one year of hire
- Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple patients and competing demands
- Experience using electronic health record systems

- Emergency Department or emergency nursing experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Assess patients and obtain current symptoms and relevant medical history
- Perform triage and prioritize care based on patient condition and acuity
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
- Provide basic life support and assist in stabilizing patients experiencing medical emergencies
- Monitor vital signs and other clinical indicators and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
- Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic testing, treatments, and emergency procedures
- Prepare, administer, and document medications and IV therapies as ordered
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions to medications and treatments and promptly report changes in condition
- Provide patient and family education regarding medications, follow-up care, nutrition, rehabilitation, and other post-treatment needs
- Accurately and timely document assessments, interventions, medications, and other patient care activities in the electronic health record
- Manage multiple patients simultaneously while continually reassessing and prioritizing patient needs
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to provide exceptional patient care
- Comply with all applicable nursing standards, hospital policies, safety requirements, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain professionalism and composure while managing multiple urgent priorities
