About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides medical-surgical nursing care in the General Surgery 3W unit at Mercy Hospital South. The role uses the nursing process to provide patient care and maintains professional accountability for care of assigned patients. The RN evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers, coordinates patient care with other departments, and protects patient rights and the confidentiality of patient information. Duties are performed in a manner consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and Service Standards.

This is a full-time position scheduled for 36 hours per week. The listing gives the shift as “Days 7:00pm - 7:00am.”

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate Degree in Nursing, nursing diploma, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri or compact licensure in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods throughout the shift.
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties.

Nice To Haves

• Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred.
• Prior experience in the specialty area or a similar clinical setting.
