About The Position
United Health Services (UHS) is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Memorial 5 Behavioral Health unit at Binghamton General Hospital. This 17-bed adult high acuity inpatient psychiatric medical unit provides compassionate, patient-centered care for individuals with a wide range of behavioral health diagnoses. The Memorial 5 team is dedicated to creating a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment that supports recovery and dignity, in alignment with the UHS mission to improve the health of the communities we serve. Nurses on Memorial 5 collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team of mental health technicians, social workers, therapists, and providers to deliver holistic, individualized care. Requirements
- A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
- Current NYS RN License
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing
- Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting
- Professional certification in a related nursing specialty
- Relevant skills certification (i.e., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by home unit assigned.
Responsibilities
- Assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements and evaluates nursing care in managing a group of patients, serving as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse, when designated by unit assignment and consideration of factors related to safety, effectiveness, competency, cost and impact.
- Educates patient and family in health promotion and disease management using available resources.
- Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to United Health Services policy.
- Shares in responsibility for productivity and effective resources utilization including staffing, time management, supplies and services.
- Complies with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and United Health Services policies.
- Actively participates in and supports the Nursing Shared Governance Model by supporting the Unit Council, participating in improvement initiatives, and contributing to peer review practices.
- Actively engages in professional development, continuing nursing education, and completing all mandatory education requirements.
- Integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice.
- Provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
