About The Position

The adult oncology progressive care unit at Ball Memorial is a 25-bed unit specializing in hospice/end-of-life care, cancer patients, COPD patients, and those with weakness due to acute disease. This unit utilizes a Team Based Acuity Adaptable Model (TBAAM) with an interdisciplinary team that rounds daily with the clinical nurse for improved continuity of care. Nursing skills gained on this unit include progressive level of care, ACLS, chemo competency, and hospice care. The unit has a history of celebrations, is an inpatient chemo unit, has chemo-competent RNs on day and night shifts, and offers opportunities for involvement in shared governance.

Requirements

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).

Responsibilities
