This is a 12-bed Medical/Surgical & Post-Op unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6. The patient population includes post-op spine, orthopedic, ENT, abdominal, thoracic, vascular, and urology cases, along with general medical patients. The department fosters a close-knit, collaborative environment with strong nurse-physician teamwork and is a growing department with future expansion plans as surgical services continue to expand.
Requirements
- Current RN VA or compact state license
- Associate’s degree in nursing
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support

Responsibilities
- Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
- Documents patient care and monitors patient condition, communicating with care team, physician, patient, and family.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Coordinates patient care across disciplines, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and support needs.
- Provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, and circumstances.
- Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
- Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
